Experiencing Indonesia’s Rich Culture in Tainan(Office of International Affairs)

Brian, an Indonesian student at CTBC Business School, recently had the chance to immerse himself in his home country’s vibrant traditions at a cultural event hosted by the Indonesian Student Association at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan.

The experience brought me back home,” Brian shared, adding that he was surprised and delighted to witness such a celebration of Indonesian heritage in Taiwan. This year’s theme centered on the legendary Javanese folktale Roro Jonggrang—a story about a princess turned into a statue of the Hindu goddess Durga, which also ties into the origins of Ratu Boko Palace and the iconic Prambanan temple complex.

The event featured traditional dances from across Indonesia, regional music, and a variety of authentic Indonesian dishes. It also provided Brian with a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with fellow Indonesians and introduce their rich cultural traditions to the local community.

Held annually, the event showcases different cultural themes each year and continues to foster friendship and cultural exchange between Indonesian students and the Taiwanese public.
