Taiwan Lantern Festival Experience(Office of International Affairs)

The Lantern Festival is an annual celebration in Taiwan, where a large-scale lantern exhibition and light installations are fully displayed. Fortunately for foreigners in Tainan, the extravagant art display has made its comeback in the "City of Deities" after 16 years. Making this year even more special is its coincidence with Tainan's 400th cityhood anniversary.

Given the rarity of this opportunity, the international student  Frances Alegria Bugtai made sure not to miss it. The celebration certainly didn't disappoint as his eyes were filled with a plethora of colorfully lit lanterns. In fact, the experience even brought back many childhood memories as he spotted lanterns featuring some of his favorite cartoon characters.

With the entire exhibition occupying a vast area, what completed this unique experience was the food market located right beside the display area. Indulging in the unique flavors of Taiwanese street food was the perfect way to cap it off. Because of this, Frances couldn't wait to see next year's Lantern Festival.
