Adapting to Taiwan: Navigating Humidity, Embracing Motorcycles, and Exploring Cities (Office of International Affairs)

Hello, this is Tselmeg. I arrived in Taiwan in September 2023 to pursue my studies at the university. Upon arrival, I quickly noticed numerous differences between my home country and Taiwan. One aspect I’m still adapting to is the Weather. Having spent my entire life in a dry climate, adjusting to the humidity in Taiwan has been a challenge so far.

Another noticeable difference is the prevalence of motorcycles. In Mongolia, we don’t use motorcycles as much as people do here in Taiwan, where it seems almost everyone owns one. Since my arrival, I’ve had the chance to explore different cities a few time, which has been quite exciting. For instance, last November, I went on a solo trip to Miaoli and Taichung to explore these places.

Despite facing language barriers with my limited Chinese skills and initially being unfamiliar with the transportation system, I still managed to figure it out and explore. It turned out to be a delightful experience, and it made me realize that I can still enjoy many great things during my time here in Taiwan. I look forward to further adapting and experiencing all that Taiwan has to offer throughout my years of study here.
