International students celebrating Taiwan's National Day(Office of International Affairs)

As Taiwan commemorated National Day on October 10, many took advantage of the holiday to explore the country, and international students were no exception. Our international student Barbara, who hails from the Philippines, celebrated by visiting the newly opened Kuromi exhibition at Anping Recreation Pier in Tainan.

The exhibition features a giant display of Kuromi and My Melody, along with a lively performance every 30 minutes that lasts for five minutes. Barbara was captivated by the charming displays, noting how the playful atmosphere enhanced her holiday experience. “Seeing all the cute characters made me happy. I really enjoyed being part of the celebrations,” she shared. The event drew crowds of both locals and foreigners, adding to the vibrant, festive mood as people snapped photos around the displays.

In addition to the visual experience, visitors can stop by a nearby souvenir shop to purchase memorabilia featuring their favorite characters. Barbara remarked that the exhibition made her feel more connected to the cultural habits of Taiwanese people.

This popular exhibition format, which rotates regularly between cities, will remain at Anping Pier until November 17.
